The Maddie House

Here we opted for an open floor plan. The book shelf we used was a little smaller than we wanted, but it worked. We also added some fairy lights which added a really cool effect.

This one also had a SHOWER made by Grandpa! He used the plastic from Barbie boxes for the walls, and put black electrical tape on the sides. I sewed a shower curtain held by a lollypop stick hanging on stick on hooks. He actually used some tile - real tile - from back splash pieces we bought at Lowes. He even put a niche in the wall to hold soaps.

I chose sticky shelf liner for the bedroom wall paper and hung up some printed art. The bed is made from simple scraps of wood glued together and I made the blankets and pillows out of scrap fabric. I glued some lace across the bed bottom.

Here is a better view of the shower. Grandpa did not really like how it came out, but I thought it was very clever and realistic. Anytime you get clear plastic packaging, like what is on Barbie boxes, SAVE IT. You never know where it will come in handy.

The bed looks cozy enough to climb right in doesn't it? Yes, I cut out all those little squares of fabric and made a quilt. I've never made a grown up real person quilt, but I can tell you that a Barbie size quilt is a lot of work too!

The pretty design on the headboard and footboard and the wall picture are stickers I bought from JoAnn's. I haven't found them anywhere else. And JoAnn's has gone out of business.

The floor here is scrapbook paper that looks like wood grain.

The lights are strung up using mini hooks that just stick on the wall. Made by 3M and other companies.

Walls and Flooring are in. Move in ready!

After using a marble looking shelf liner for the wall paper, I added a shelf made from popsicle sticks.

The floor is actual peel and stick floor tile (linoleum) from Lowes. The Barbie Kitchen is found here.

Because this house was pretty cramped on space, I opted to make little bean bag chairs.

Barbie and her friends didn't seem to mind.

Just showing the shower stages....
